5 to 6 pounds beef brisket
1 package dry onion soup mix
12 ounces stout beer
1/2 cupful water
2 cloves garlic (large), peeled & sliced
2 sweet large onions, sliced
12 ounces chili sauce
1 dozen buns

Preheat oven to 350º Fahrenheit. Spray roasting pan with non-stick cooking spray and place brisket in roasting pan. Cut numerous slits into brisket and insert sliced garlic. Cover top of brisket with sliced onions & chili sauce.
In a small bowl, mix together dried onion soup and beer. Cautiously pour over chili sauce. Add the water to roasting pan.
Bake 3½ hrs uncovered. See brisket at just about 2½ hrs. Whenever brisket appears to be darkening overmuch, binding with foil for the final hour of baking. Cut and dish on a bun.
